Empties Summer '16 Edition

As summer comes to a close, so does the lid on a number of products I've used up over the past few months. Collecting my empties was a first, but it really helped to show me how quickly I can run out of certain products, and assist in determining if I'd re-purchase again. So let's dive in and see what got used up this summer!

Lush Santa's Lip Scrub
$9.95 CAD for 25g at Lush (Note: Limited Edition Flavour Only available in holiday season)
Ok, I realize this wasn't necessarily a 'summer' product, based on the name alone. Yet the heaviest usage this got was in the spring/summer months. I've mentioned before that I'm a constant victim to dry, chapped lips. Lush really got it right with this scrub. I've been addicted to it for years now, and this flavour is by far my favourite (I used to love the chocolate flavour, but for some reason they discontinued it!! I'm still not over it, actually).
Shame that this one is only available in for the holiday season, it tastes just like cherry Coke!
This scrub was strong enough to remove any gross flakiness that occurs, but not too harsh that it left my lips raw. If anything, it left them soft, supple and with a slight tint due to the red colouring. I especially liked using it to remove liquid lipsticks. This way it'd get most of it off before I took an actual makeup remover to it.

How long did it take to use up?
Considering I purchased this back in November/December, this little pot lasted a long time! That said, a little goes a long way. I only ever needed a pea-sized amount to slough off any dead skin.
It had a long expiry date as well, which would have ended as of November 16, 2016 had I not have been such an addict.

Would I re-purchase?
ABSOLUTELY. No question here, I will definitely pick up this flavour again come Christmas time. Until then, I'll likely pick up one of their regular stocked flavours like Popcorn (Which actually tastes more like sweet kettlecorn, rather than the butter variety).
However, I have been eyeing the Velour Lip Scrubs by Jeffree Star for quite some time. They are a tad bit higher priced than Lush, but you also get 5 more grams with Jeffree's line. I imagine the pumpkin spice flavour might be returning soon, and that just might sway me.

Peter Thomas Roth Anti-Aging Cleansing Gel

$47.00 CAD for 8oz/240 mL at Sephora
This was a Sephora VIB reward (A birthday gift, if I'm not mistaken?) that I've kept in the medicine cabinet for the past few months. I'm always grateful for this rewards program, because I always get products I wouldn't otherwise pickup. This cleanser has come in handy over the summer months to control the excess oil on my face, though I did find it to be a tad bit too harsh and drying. But I found another use for it.
I know 'backne' happens to the best of us, but my regular cleanser doesn't always cut it.
I kept this product in my shower for this purpose specifically. The salicylic acid did a great job of washing away any bumps that popped up on my back and chest.

How long did it take to use up?
I believe I picked this up around my birthday, which is in October, but I didn't start using it until May. It was finished by early August.

Would I re-purchase?
Maybe? I'm a cheapskate so the price tag isn't too appealing (It's $47 CAD for the full-sized bottle) . Plus my skin has been balancing out lately, so I'm not sure I need such intense oil control for the time being.

Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray
$17 CAD for 1 oz/30mL (above), or $38 CAD for 4 oz at Sephora

This was the first setting spray that I had tried, and I've been hooked ever since. This formula especially has been good to me over the summer, because of my oily skin situation. The 'de-slick' edition is specifically for oil-control. It kept me matte and flawless, even on super humid days.
How long did it take to use up?
I bought this early June, and was finished it by early August. To be fair, I used this a TON. I experimented with it by spraying it before and after foundation application, and before highlighter. I can attest, that it worked flawlessly in all 3 occasions. It's so lightweight and non-greasy, unlike other sprays out there (I'm looking at you, Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist!!)
I sprayed this in excess, and I'm not even a bit sorry about it.

Would I re-purchase?
Definitely. I'm actually considering the full-size (I only got the 30 mL travel size. I'm a sucker for minis, what can I say?). I should have known better with how much I used it, though. The only reason I haven't re-purchased it sooner is because I'm trying out a NYX setting spray currently.

Bioderma Sébium H2O – Purifying Cleansing Micelle Solution
Available in 100 mL (above) and 250 mL at Shoppers Drug Mart
I hated makeup remover for a long time, because it just stung so damn much! I always hated taking off my eyeliner/mascara, because for some reason it just stays on my lashes like glue. No matter what I used, I'd still wake up with raccoon-eyes the next morning. Until I found out about Micellar water.

This is essentially holy water, in my opinion. It removes every single trace of makeup, including any waterproof formulas. Unlike other makeup removers, it doesn't leave a greasy residue. Somedays I just swiped a cotton pad soaked in this stuff, and that was all I needed to wash my face. And I felt clean!! Not the way you feel after just a makeup remover wipe, where you still need to lather up to feel clean. I mean pure, squeaky clean.
Needless to say, there were no raccoon-eyes the next day.

How long did it take to use up?
Purchased in June, used up by mid-August.

Would I re-purchase?
Yes! I'm hooked on Micellar water in general now, and I'm testing out Garnier's version currently. It's a bit more budget-friendly, but essentially the same.

Sephora Rouge Infusion Lip Stain, Shade 19 'Peony'
Reg. $18 CAD (On sale for $11 CAD) at Sephora
This was my go-to lip shade when I wanted more than a tinted lip balm, but didn't want to commit to a full-on lipstick. Just something easy and every-day. The shade was a perfect dusty rose, just a tad deeper than my natural lip colour. It was a satin finish stain, not matte so it wasn't drying at all. The floral fragrance was a bit strong for my liking, but it faded with wear.

How long did it take to use up?
At least a year. I'm not 100% sure when I got this, to be completely honest. But I lost it for a while, and it reemerged when I was unpacking from a move. I may have used it almost every day since I found it again. I officially used it all yesterday, and I'm still mourning the loss.

Would I re-purchase?
I originally thought this was just part of a limited-edition collection Sephora had, so I was super upset when this tube ran dry. But I just checked the site and found it's in stock!!! Look out, I need to fill up my online cart!

Lush Sea Spray Hair Mist
$13.95 CAD for 100mL at Lush
I'm a big fan of sea-sprays. I have naturally thick, wavy hair and tend to let it air-dry during the summer months. Though I love my natural texture, sometimes I want more hold and definition.
I ran out of my favourite Bumble & Bumble Surf Infusion Spray at the time, and was looking for a budget-friendly version to fill the void. While this did give me the texture I was looking for, I was left with sticky residue and crunchy ends most of the time. And the scent was way too overwhelming. Less beachy, more old-lady perfume.

How long did it take to use up?
A couple months. I think I bought in early spring and ran out end of July. I'm weird about returning beauty products after using them, so I stuck with it

Would I re-purchase?
Probably not. I wasn't a big fan, it left my hair too crunchy for my liking and I hated the fragrance. I'll stick to Bumble & Bumble from now on.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup
$47 CAD at Sephora
Until I found this foundation, I was switching products every season. They either didn't blend, didn't match or just didn't feel right.
Urban Decay might be my favourite brands lately, because every product I buy from them is been utter perfection. For the summer, I don't like to wear heavy foundation for obvious reasons. This is a light-to-medium coverage foundation, that's very buildable when you need it to be. Even if I put on a little more for a fuller coverage, it never felt heavy, and didn't settle into fine lines.
The colour match is seamless, no oxidizing here! Even when I got a bit of a tan, all I needed was a bit of bronzer to even things out.

How long did it take to use up?
Bought in early May, finished last week.
Funny story, I've been literally scraping the remaining product out of the bottle so I had time between my next foundation purchase. You have to shake the bottle each time you use it, but I guess the last time I used it I hadn't screwed the lid on tight enough. I shook it, an that's how I wound up with any remaining foundation all over myself and my desk.

Would I re-purchase?
Yup! This is actually my second purchase of this foundation. I would have bought it again, but I actually just picked up the new All Nighter version in the same shade (1.0, for those who are curious). I was told by the sale associate at Sephora that if I loved Naked Skin, All Nighter would blow my mind. I'll be reviewing it later this month!

Gap So Pink Body Mist
Price unknown, discontinued.
I am still gutted that I ran out of this. It has been my signature scent since at least 6th grade. It was a perfect every-day fragrance; Clean, crisp and just a little bit tangy. The official ingredients were 'citrus, lily, sweet pea and musk'. I distinctly recall a fresh grapefruit scent that gradually faded into a super feminine but unoffensive sweetness.
It was light enough that I could spray it liberally without being nauseating, but it would still last all day. I even liked mixing it with my other fave, Acqua di Gioia by Giorgio Armani, if I wanted to amp up that clean scent to something more sultry.

How long did it take to use up?
Oh god. I bought this at least 3 years ago, if not longer. I used it until it was completely empty, and then I sobbed for at least an hour.

Would I re-purchase?
If I could convince Gap to start selling fragrances again, I would probably clear out their stock of this stuff. That said, if anyone out there has any leads as to where I can find this, please share them with me!! I feel completely lost without it.

What products did you most recently run out of? Are you planning on re-purchasing them? Have you tried any of the products mentioned? Tell me in the comments below!
