Feel Good Face Masks - My Self-Care Skincare Selections

Skincare can seem like a real chore sometimes, I know. While you may see it as a menial, necessary task in your morning/nighttime schedules, it's so much more than that for me. It's how I self-care.

You may have seen the #SelfCareSeptember hashtag floating around your feeds lately. For many of us, self-care comes in many forms. It could be anything from meditation to exercise. But at it's core, it's to help identify and tend to your mental health.
For me, sometimes it's as simple as taking a moment to wash my face. It's grounding for me to have a routine, something I can to look forward to. Knowing that at the start and end of each day I have a task that rewards me with healthy skin is incredibly motivating.

I wanted to share with you some of my fave, feel-good face masks, for days when you might need a pick-me-up (or just want to treat yourself)!

The Creme Shop Clear Up Skin Unicorn Face Mask - $12 CAD for 3 or $5.24 CAD each

I'll be honest, I bought this on a whim while shopping at Winners because it was on clearance for super cheap. I'm a sucker for anything cute, especially when it comes to beauty products, so needlesss to say that plump little unicorn stole a piece of my heart! While my expectations were super low at first, I'm now a full-fledged believer in unicorn magic!

Not only does it have an adorable unicorn face printed on it, this sheet mask is jam packed with vitamin C, and soothing strawberry & milk proteins. While the brightening effects are powerful, I find it's quite soothing and gentle on my sensitive skin. And let me tell you, folks; the effects are not only immediate, they last longer than a double rainbow. My skin is dewy and luminous for hours on end when I use this!

I always love to use my facial roller in conjunction with a sheet mask. I find it helps the essence absorb better, and it just makes the experience that much more soothing.
Bonus points if you pop the roller in the fridge beforehand!

Whenever my skin is looking dull, blotchy or dehydrated, I reach for one of these masks. Or maybe it's when I just want to feel like a unicorn for 20 minutes... Is that so wrong??

Garnier SkinActive Soothing 3-in-1 Balm with Rose Water - $20.99 CAD

Everything is coming up roses in my skincare selection lately, and for good reason! I find the addition of rose water as an ingredient does a wonderful job of balancing out redness and hydrating the dry areas of my combo-complexion. This balm from Garnier is formulated with naturally derived rose water, and it's totally vegan as well! Always a joy to see organic and cruelty-free selections at drugstore prices.

What I love most about this product is the fact that it can be used as a day cream, a night cream, or (you guessed it) a mask! Who doesn't love a multi-tasker?

Apply as much or as little as you like! It spreads quite beautifully across the skin.
I usually apply this before bed because so I can wake up looking like I slept through the night when lately I've been super restless (I imagine this will come in handy once my little one arrives). But when my skin is feeling extra thirsty, I love to swipe on a thick layer and let the rose water work it's magic for 10 minutes. I can then wipe it away to reveal supple, baby-soft skin!

Sephora Collection Clay Mask - $10 CAD

My sister and I often share beauty tips with each other, and her reco's have never failed me. I could honestly trust her to write this blog for me, she really knows her stuff.
One day she handed this Blue Clay mask to me and said, "this is the best mask," and I knew she wasn't playing around.

If i'm breaking out, or my skin just needs a little polish, I always reach for this little blue wonder. I was initially wary that the clay base would dry out my combination skin, but it actually balances things out quite nicely! It has the perfect amount of texture to help slough away the nasty stuff without being too rough.

The label claims this mask is good for 4 Uses, but I've honestly been able to squeeze out way more. A little goes a long way, and I find using a brush helps to ensure an even application.
Unfortunately, this specific blue mask is no longer available online (there are 7 other varieties within this line as well), BUT I've seen plenty in stock at my local Sephora. If you want to give this one a try, I highly suggest you stock up before it disappears forever. I've got my stash ready!
