Cosmetic Cravings - Food-Inspired Beauty Faves

It should come as no surprise that a number of my favourite beauty products are inspired by food. I'm fairly food motivated, in case you didn't know. So if you're ever in a position where you need to win me over, just give me snacks.  It's a win-win for both of us.

Food in beauty isn't anything new; there are tons of skincare benefits like vitamin c, antioxidants and hydration that can be easily found in the grocery aisle. We all know that a good diet and plenty of water directly affects your skin's appearance, so it seems like a no-brainer that these feel-good ingredients would be used on the skin as well.
Sometimes even edible inspiration makes its way into cosmetics by way of pigment or scent. Juicy colours and flavoursome fragrances are perfect examples of what makes playing with makeup so damn fun!

A collection of crave-worthy cosmetics to add to your cart!
From scrumptious skincare to tasty tints, I've shared a cart-full of crave-worthy cosmetics I love to treat myself to! Just don't blame me if you drool on your phone/keyboard.

TooFaced The Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette - $59 CAD

Had to start the list off with an oldie-but-goodie. This was one of the first eyeshadow palettes I ever brought home, and I love it dearly to this day. The fact that it actually smells like chocolate is just one of the reasons I always reach for it.

Everyone has their go-to neutrals and this is chock-full of my personal faves (especially the shade 'Marzipan', as if you couldn't tell by bare pan in the centre of it). It is extremely versatile too, as it has allowed me to create a number of day and nighttime appropriate eye looks over the years. I'd recommend this palette to just about anyone, whether you're a seasoned makeup guru or just trying to step up your beauty game.

And if you need a little more convincing, just give it a whiff next time you're at Sephora. That should seal the deal.

Cake Beauty Cake Walk Foot Cream - $7.99 CAD

Unless you're getting regular pedicures (how I envy you), feet are often neglected from beauty routines. If your tootsies are in need of a treat, look no further than to Cake Beauty.

This rich & creamy formula is packed with peppermint, spearmint, and pure menthol to not only freshen up but deeply soothe as well. It makes my feet feel so soft, you'll feel like you just walked out of the spa because of how intensely moisturizing this is. Slather this on before bed, slip on some cozy socks and feel all your stress melt away. Mmmmm...

Yes To Cucumbers Soothing Facial Wipes - $9.99 CAD

Contrary to what Paolo in The Princess Diaries says, cucumbers are actually beneficial in this instance.

I always found that facial wipes did more harm than good until I gave these a try. My sensitive skin is completely unbothered by these because they're hypoallergenic and incredibly gentle. All thanks to those trusty cukes!
I don't feel the need to double-cleanse after swiping these all over my face because they truly remove all of my makeup! These don't leave behind that dreaded filmy texture on the skin, either. I truly never thought I'd love a packet of wipes this much, but here we are!

Even if you're not a regular makeup-wearer, these are great for whenever your skin needs freshening up (post-gym, or post-Netflix-binge-on-the-couch).

First Aid Beauty Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer - $37 CAD

Hydration and healthy skin go hand-in-hand. But if you're like me and sometimes struggle to chug down those 8 recommended glasses of water each day, it's important to nourish your skin with a good moisturizer instead. This First Aid Beauty priming moisturizer is like the skincare equivalent to a supercharged smoothie after a sweat sesh (hence the name).

While this is my preferred base for my makeup because of it's smooth & ultra-hydrating application,  this makes my skin look so radiant I can sometimes skip the layer of foundation. It does a brilliant job of soothing my sensitive skin and evening out any redness, and leaving me with that dewy "I don't sweat, I glisten" kind of glow you're used to seeing on fitness models.

Glossier Berry Balm Dotcom - $15 CAD

Tinted lip balms are one of my biggest beauty vices. I know I own plenty of them, but I can never get enough. They're perfect for days when I don't want to commit to an actual lipstick, but still want just a little kiss of colour (which quite honestly, is most days). So now you understand why I need one in every shade imaginable.

Glossier broke the mold when they released Balm Dotcom, and they continue to stock my already-bursting-at-the-seams collection of lip products with each new flavour they introduce. When 'Berry' was added to the lineup, I LOST MY DAMN MIND, FOLKS. This is the perfect lippie for fall because it gives the most beautiful sheer stain with the added benefit of hydration (and the juiciest jam scent to top it all off).

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick - $30 CAD

If you're a long-time reader, I'm sure you knew this would make my list. I consider Bite Beauty to be the gold standard when it comes to lipsticks, and their classic cream formula is truly the creme de la creme.

The Amuse Bouche lineup is my favourite for so many reasons. The colours are so imaginative & punchy whilst still being incredibly wearable. Every single shade is so richly pigmented, one swipe is all you need for buttery-soft coverage. It's hard to pick a favourite from this collection, but Pickled Ginger has been on heavy rotation throughout this summer. Though I'm also a huge fan of Gazpacho - a classic true red, and Chai - a universally flattering deep-mauve.

The food theme behind each name pairs beautifully with the fact that each tube is made up of food-grade ingredients, so they're quite literally good enough to eat (don't feel the need to go taste-testing or anything, though).

  1. These all sound wonderful! I'll definitely have to keep those wipes in mind. I'm really not a fan of wipes because they either don't work well or leave a residue. These sound great!

    1. Honestly I was so ready to be disappointed by the wipes for those exact reasons, but they really are great! I especially love using them after a workout because they're so refreshing!
